This is what my 60GB iPod video does now after I updated it to ipod software 1.2 using iTunes 7. It just keeps turning on and back off over and over again. It does it both with the Hold switch on and off. It still does it after I Reset it to factory settings and while plugged in. Completely disfunctional - can't use it anymore. Sweet!

  • I use a mac. music wouldn't play. I couldn't get it to do anything other than this. I did a full reset and half way through loading back all the songs it started doing this even while plugged in. I took it to Apple and they said it was a failing hard drive. I paid $30 for a replacement unit, and they gave me a brand new one. I didn't try the new 60GB replacement...i'm selling that one and bought a new 80GB video. that one works fine now.

  • I think that apple does that on purpose to make people upgrade to their new products. The same thing happened to me and my first gen ipod nano.

  • ipods quality is really good ... xD

  • @jerome70743 i know thats whats happening to mine , have you fixed it yet??

  • @3960628 my ipod nano 1g is fine

  • 1) Slide the hold button button to hold position (red showing) and back

    2) hold down the center button and play/pause on the ring until it goes into "Disk Mode" (you may have to try this a few times -- it seems to work better in the beginning of the loop).

Now you can connect back up to your computer and do a restore your factory settings (which gives you a perfectly workable iPod with no content).

  • it was used on a mac and it needs the same computer, my uncle gave it to me so i cant format it, it needs to be formatted to be restored

  • thats very "restore" -able actually.

  • im stuck with the unreparable case of the sad ipod

  • what? i thought that first it's stop motion. I can't hear any voice here. are you sure that update the ipod? i have the same problem alll the time. so i changed to other mp3 player which is P3 has excellent technology such as none necessary convert file. you should try this. it won't betrayed you.

  • well if it doesnt function give it to me ,lol

  • there is no such thing as software failure using ipod the worst thing could happen is lost your data how to fix it easy!(except for hardware failure which is rarely happen) try to upload the new firmware and you can even download hem for free....all you got todo is try!

  • try this next time instead of sending it to apple just right click on the ipod volume drive and click format and it completely erases everything on your ipod and then try to update again and u shouldn't have a problem
