Buy the alloy, that is best. Forget tin for white bronze, it makes the alloy brittle. You need manganese and nickel. But home made? Too difficult.

Did anyone tell this Latino worker that the handling of all those investments, silicas etc. might kill him in a number of years because of silicosis? Please explain why he is not protected at all, I find this shocking. Texas in the 21st century?

You do a great job there. I try to cast white bronze but I have problems with alloying. Can you tell me if cooper and tin in equal quantities are enough to make white bronze?
I will really apreciate some info about white bronze. On internet I found about 5-6 types of white bronze. So I am confused now :(
I try to cast small items, 2-1 inches in diameter and I really need a good white bronze recipe.

I have a basic question. How come the piece is hollow? When the wax is dipped in the slurry and the ceramic shell is formed, this is on the outside of the piece. If the wax is melted out, it seems to me that the ceramic casing is completely hollow so if you cast bronze in to it, it would be solid. Is there a core in there?

I have a question: can the EXACT same mold (statue), be cast as solid bronze, as ceramic only, and as bronze-coated ceramic?
The reason for my question is I bought a statue on eBay that is listed as "solid bronze"...but after I bought it, someone posted an identical one, same size, shape, color, etc...but said it was "bronze-plated ceramic".
The final question...How can I tell it is all bronze without breaking it open (it is on a marble base)? The sound of the ring???

The mold would have to be redone to cast a different material into it. A bronze of any size is cast hollow and will have some ceramic material inside. The ceramic material that is trapped inside is not a sculpture that has been coated.
Telling if its all bronze is easy for someone that has looked at many of them. Many resin sculptures just have a faux bronze paint finish. Take it to an art gallery and let someone look at it that has seen a lot of real bronzes.
