As the priest was giving his homily in the suburbs a homeless woman found her way into the last pew. She asked some of us for money the ushers immediately ushered her out the door. In Detroit, she would have been invited to stay for the service and food after when she would have been listened to and helped. That is what being of service is about. But I guess the Archdiocese wants to send a clear message that it will only help those who can help themselves.
I wonder if Fr Norman Thomas has talked to the Archbishop about his feeling. If I were to bad mouth my boss and insinuate that he was a racist, I probably would be out of a job. The only color that the AOD is concerned with is GREEN. Many of these churches are bleeding money.
