  • How could the apostles have been teenagers? They were fisherman by the time the Lord called them to His followers.

  • @cbc51 - To answer this you must not think of those times in 21st Century terms. I am merely sharing with you what the norm of that day was, as recorded in 1st Century writings of Israel. As a Jewish boy of that time period, you began learning your father's trade from 4-years-old. Most 'shepherds' (shepherding alone) of biblical times were as young as 12-years-old. A Jewish boy was expected to be established in a trade by 20. Thus, this is not a far-fetched concept.

  • Hi, can you give me your reference regarding the first split between the Jews and the Messianic Jews? My understanding is that they split because Rabbi Akiva declared Bar Kochbah as Messiah - not because of persecution of the Jewish people. But because the Yeshuim were faithful to Yeshua/Jesus as Messiah. I'd like to read up more on this so thanks for any info that you can provide.

  • @walksbyf8h - I think you misunderstood what I said. There began to be a distancing of the Gentile believers from the Jewish believers because of persecution. You are correct that the split between those Jews who followed Yeshua as Messiah and those who didn't occured when the followers of Yeshua refused to join with those who were not Yeshua followers in declaring Bar Kokhbah the Messiah.

  • @AYZTyler Thank you for replying. I'm learning so anything that you can add to my library is much appreciated. I'm reading The Church & The Jews (d.gruber), King of the Jews (d.lancaster), and Israelology (a.fruchtenbaum). Thanks again.

  • @walksbyf8h - You are most welcome. You are reading some very good books. Here are a few suggestions on some more - "Your People Shall Be My People", by Don Finto; "Restoring the Jewishness of the Gospel", by David Stern; "Our Hands Are Stained With Blood", by Michael Brown; and "Growing To Maturity", by Dan Juster.

  • thank you so much. i think i want to go to a messianic church because i already know that the sabbath day is on saturday and that christians have no excuse for not changing it

  • @cbc51 This was one of my favorite parts as a new believer I always thought it was so funny how the apostle's were so eager to leave their fathers. The most perfect answer, and how cool a one.

  • Hello I am a gentile believer. He has been leading me into Messianic Judaism. Praise first to the God we serve and may His name be blessed for all time for He is worthy to be praised. Thank you as well for the information I will be showing some of my friends that have been feeling that call as well

  • @AYZTyler thanks a lot tyler. I was going to say the same thing ! The 1st century way of life is not equivalent to the 21st century way of life. In the 1st century people never went to school, played soccer, watched tv, or even going to work at 8am. They lived on subsistence farming, fishing, woodwork, etc. So it makes sense that the apostles were fishermen at their teenage.

  • @AYZTyler only in this country do we baby the youth in old tmes by 13 you wer taught to be responsible!!!

  • yes! Lots of Great info.!! Im writing a paper on

messsianic judaism and this was a BIG help! thanks =]

  • The faith of the Messianic Jews is the Judaism of the Bible (Biblical Judaism) and is centered on the Messiah and the salvation He brings, and they don't have to go through the Sages or the Rabbis to know God. They have access to God because of the great atoning work of Yeshua HaMashiach, Israel's Chief Rabbi, who has fulfilled them as Jewish Believers and fulfilled Judaism itself.

  • i am an ex muslim. when i was 17 i was seeking God to show me the true religion. To me they all seemed righteous. After praying one day I had an experiance where God spoke to me. He said AS RIGHTEOUS AS THE RELIGIONS OF MEN MAY ALL SEEM TO BE THEY ARE ALL WITHOUT THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB. The Bible says concernig Jesus [Yeshua] BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD THAT TAKETH AWAY THE SIN OF THE WORLD. I bear witness that there is only One trueGod Jehovah and that Yeshuah is his Son and the Jews are his Chosen.
