  • @ sidomitch, here's the back cover bit about the Haven Organ, the comments box is not long enough so it's in sections!

Alan Haven plays a Haven Organ designed and built to his own exacting requirements. It was expected to be good. It so happens it's turned out sensational, resulting in an album that is a very different and special kind of organ record.

  • @MsGusset Thanks for taking the time to pass the liner notes on. Should be of interest to future "listeners". ( 244 views, as I type this, and you're only the second person to comment ! )

    Richard.

  • The things you find on here! It says Haven on the front left on the organ, if I remember right he built the organ himself. I have this on vinyl somewhere, if I can find it I'll put some more up here as the info is on the back.

  • @MsGusset ...Interesting if you can find out more. Thanks.

    Richard.

  • Alan is one of the greats and is still at it! And what in the heck is that organ on this cover? I'd probably kill for it (lol)!

  • @paulj0557 Love this rendition too. Don't know anything about the cover organ. Thanks for commenting.

    Richard.

  • Haven Organ second bit: We would point out that there is no piano used on the album. The realistically beautiful piano is built into the organ and is completely electronic. The organ features a selection of piano sounds plus harpsichord – sustains – percussion, and double sets of differently voiced drawbars (flutes and brilliants) on 16'-8'-5⅓'-4'-2'-2⅔'-1'-1¹⁄₅ '.

  • Haven Organ third bit: The huge sounding rhythm patterns are created by a combination of Alan's two percussionists and a very special feature of the Haven organ called the "Nerve Centre". This built in unit enables the player to build up a pattern of intertwining rhythms and sounds utilizing the lower manual organ and piano effects. Indeed it becomes increasingly difficult to remember that just three people made this record.

  • Haven Organ last bit: About Alan Haven's playing, there's not much we can say that hasn't been said already. Only that this performance, as always, endorses all the superlatives about his incredible talent.

One of the world's greatest musicians playing one of the world's most exciting musical instruments – Alan Haven playing the Haven Organ – what could be better. TERRY BROWN
