Defense Specialists started in 1999 with simple practical self defense modules designed to teach women how to defend themselves.

Today, the group teaches a wide array of martial arts and specialized self defense modules.

As a commitment to the original goal, the group still offers free classes to victims and survivors of domestic violence and other groups who are interested to learn practical self defense.
