'Throwing the S!' A catchphrase coined by one of the contributors at Comicbookmovie.com It's supposed to be used in the same regard as 'Jumping the Shark.' which is basically an event or plot twist which is unbelievable or flat out ridiculous which, in turn, damages the story. Here, in Superman 2, Superman showcases his yet unseen power to 'throw his S emblem' at his enemy. Pfff!

I think it was just a silly trick to show Superman has special powers when he's within the Fortress of Solitude, like when he teleports and duplicates himself. These are things he can only do in his Fortress.

At least his 'S' emblem weapon is biodegradable. Won't be sitting for millions of years in a Landfill site, fouling up the Artic. Save the planet Supes!
