This is a response to the question by Soriig posted some nine months ago. The traditional Yang brush knee does finish with a slight "lunging" posture with the back leg extended an the back slightly inclined forward. the tai chi classics say that the back is upright, the slightly leaning forward that you see on the bow stance is for intention, as the intention is going forward. it is best to practice as if a string pulling up on top of the head. the moving forward of into bow stance will put intention there at the early stages.

Nice video, I have just finished learning this form, and I am working on it twice a day trying to perfect it. It feels so great to do it, but I am learning it on my own. I have one question, everyone is telling me to always keep back straight, I notice during the bow stance when GM Li TIan Ji does the brush knee steps he seems to be slightly bent forward, is this correct, or should the back stay vertical?
