@earcandy1231 - Yeah, I think I'd say some of Tobin's music has impressionistic qualities. But I was using Debussy, Coltrane and Davis as examples of artists who built songs with more abstract complex structures, much like Tobin has been doing with electronic music throughout his career. And I don't mention Davis and Coltrane lightly- I truly see Tobin as being of the same Caliber.

@stevebelzer Would you call this music impressionism? I love Claude Debussy's music so much actually, it takes me places I have never been before. As for Miles Davis and Coltrane, they seem like musicians that deserve more than people merely throwing about their names..

@earcandy1231 - He's a wonderful artist, but he's by no means the first to do this. See impressionist composers such as Debussy, or Free Jazz artists like John Coltrane and Miles Davis for starters. I'm sure there are many more examples out there.

amon tobin is an artist that is beginning to open the doors of music possibilities. Who says music needs verses choruses melodies? Hes proving that sound itself is music..
