Benjamin Skepper at Paris Fashion Week - multi-level sound installation at 13th century mediaeval tower "Tour Jean sans Peur"

In a collaborative exhibition with The Viridi-Anne at Paris Fashion week (mens), Skepper created a multi-level multi-channel sound installation using violoncello and loop machine. Speakers were installed throughout the five storey building and further suspended from the outer walls of the structure to create a dynamic and high volume sound scape. With video montage by Louise Traon.

Jean sans Peur gouverne depuis son hôtel parisien, à l'intérieur duquel il fait construire -de 1409 à 1411- de nouveaux bâtiments, dont une haute tour. Celle-ci abrite les salles de conseil du duc de Bourgogne, desservies par deux escaliers successifs. La voûte de la grande vis est un des chefs-d'oeuvre de la sculpture gothique française. Le 25 juin 2010, Benjamin Skepper, musicien, est arrivé de Tokyo pour s'installer en haut de la tour. Les échos de son violoncelle résonnent dans le sombre escalier de pierre

６月25日 パリ最古の城塞建築 Tour Jean sans Peur（ジャン無畏公の塔）で行われたThe Virdi-anne 2011s/s presentation [ Blue Period ]
シーズンテーマでもある [ Blue Period ]という言葉は陽が沈み空が青から徐々に黒に浸食されて闇へと変わっていく瞬間を意味します。また、画家パブロ・ピカソが親友を亡くした１９００年 初頭の感傷的な時期に 暗青色を基調とした作品を多く描いた「青の時代」を指すキーワードでもあります。プレゼンテーションは塔の螺旋階段をお客様に登って頂き、絵画のように配置したモデルをご­覧頂く形で行いました。青＝昼間＝カジュアルな雰囲気のコーディネートから上階に上るにつれ装いも黒を基調としたシックなものに変化していきます

今回PRESENTATIONの音楽を担当していただいたのは Benjamin Skepper氏

塔の中間に位置するバルコ ニーから聞こえる、どこかメランコリックで美しい
チェロの旋律は、塔全体を包み込み、まるでピカソの「青の時代」の絵画の中
にいるかと錯覚するようでした。
