" Vahevala, " written by Kenny Loggins and Dan Lottermoser, first appeared on Sittin' In, the debut album by singer-songwriters, Kenny Loggins and Jim Messina, released in 1971 on the Columbia label. It was later included on the greatest hits album, The Best of Friends, released in 1976 and was also performed on the reunion album, Live: Sittin' in Again at Santa Barbara Bowl released in 2005 on the Rhino label. With regard to the song Kenny Loggins said, "As far as writing the lyric, people ask me, What is Vahevala? It was just a sound that came through, Loggins continues. It caught my attention because it sounded like a place, so I made it up like a fantasy island that this kid came from, where he would sneak off the boat and party with the neighbors and sneak back on before the captain saw him. It was total escapist fantasy. What is most remarkable to me, when I look back on it, is how much joy is in it. It's such an I love my life song."

  • All music would be less without this track and the bold cross melody . RIP Kenny

Just great memories of that great summer....

  • @daddyoj

    Kenny Loggins is alive.

  • Always thought these guys, when they both sang in harmony, sounded a lot like Seals and Crofts. Great song, thanks for posting. Stop by my channel, I've got 2,471 music videos to jam to. Peace.

  • @sgtdarkness1

  • L & M came to my campus for a free noontime concert in the student union in 1971.. Didn't know who they were then, but became life long fan and went to see them probably 7or 8 times over the years. great songs.

  • 強力デュオ、ロギンス&メッシーナ、完成度高きファーストより、カリプソ・ロック"ヴァヒハヴァラ"~ジャズマルチキーボーダー、ヴィクター・フェルドマンが確か参加?

  • Great vocals as they always had but the music just "shines" in this song. The musicians did an outstanding job, in my humble and unprofessional opinion. But I know what I like:)

  • These guys had the BEST jams on all their releases....

  • @daddyoj WTF Kenny's not dead!!!!!

  • First heard this in Sept '72 on a road trip Maine to S. Ohio. Wee hours, in the middle of a vast uninhabited Penn expanse. Some FM album play station played the whole side. Further miracle, the somewhat unreliable radio in our '65 VW Bus picked up every note loud and clear. I developed an attachment for this album that night that will last forever.

  • @idontcare2332 SAME

  • The LA sound from the 70's...it is awesome...

  • I've had this stuck in my head all day. Finally! I get to listen. :P
