Timothy McVeigh was inspired by the WWCR shortwave radio broadcasts of William Cooper. McVeigh was a regular listener in the months before the Oklahoma City bombing. James Nichols, brother of Oklahoma bombing co-defendant Terry Nichols, testified about Cooper's broadcasts in 1996 during a pretrial hearing in Oklahoma City.
McVeigh even paid a personal visit to Cooper, a couple of months before the bombing in early 1995.
Michael Fortier: Well, I can't say a whole lot, but what I've said I guess I can say. We heard lots of tapes and saw videos and read things. There is this guy with a radio station in Arizona, Bill Cooper. He keeps calling people "sheeple" and says that they ain't doing anything to change things. Well, we got to thinking that things need to change.
William Milton Cooper, 58, whose apocalyptic, constitutionalist shortwave radio programs were a major influence on Oklahoma City bomber Timothy McVeigh, was shot to death after Cooper shot and critically wounded an Apache County sheriff's deputy who had tried to arrest him, officers said.Apache County Sheriff Brian Hounshell said Marinez, a former Marine and Persian Gulf War veteran, was shot twice in the head.
The Oklahoma City Bombing proved to be a watershed for the patriot movement and Bill Cooper, as Terry Nichols and Timothy McVeigh, Cooper disciples, introduced the American public to a "terrorist" militia that was far more dangerous than the contemporaneous press image of a bunch of harmless idiots playing "army" in the woods. The results were devastating to the militias. Across the heartland of America, communities protested the activities of the militia groups in their local areas.

@AnAxetoGrind As far as I'm concerned, the one responsible for this was a 26-year-old and a few key others.

An Interview with Michael Fortier
OPF: What led to the bombing?
Michael Fortier: Well, I can't say a whole lot, but what I've said I guess I can say. We heard lots of tapes and saw videos and read things. There is this guy with a radio station in Arizona, Bill Cooper. He keeps calling people "sheeple" and says that they ain't doing anything to change things.
