Sesame Street - Mad Painter # 8

My nieces and nephews laughed like crazy when they saw this one. Isn't it a shame that S.S. decided to quit airing any and all of these films a few years ago. What are they so afraid of? It's too b...

It's too bad stuff like this isn't done anymore. I'm so glad that I got to see this and the best era of cartoons (the 80s) when I was a kid.

Only problem is Count would be so happy he'd laugh and lightning would hit the water! :D

That might be true but, that thunder and lightning belongs to "The Count" so he is probably in control of both of them where he probably prevents the lightning from hitting anything on the ground or in pools where he keeps the lightning in the sky only. (Since he is probably in control of the thunder and lightning, he probably also prevents the thunder and lightning from causing it to rain outside even though some people think it will rain after hearing his thunder and lightning).

These Mad Painter segments aired from 1971 to about 1990 with no problem. All of a sudden, in the early 90's, it WAS a problem. WHY???!!! That is very strange! I'm sick of the PC crowd dictating what is acceptable and what isn't!

I can understand how you feel. I miss these Mad Painter skits too. Maybe there wasn't really a problem with these skits. It was probably Paul Benedict who wanted to stop doing these skits since he was starting to develop acromegaly after these skits were taken off the show. Then perhaps, the directors and producers were unable to find someone to replace him or, nobody wanted to replace him. So I guess he did the number 11 skit to show that he was caught like it was his way of saying bye.

Don't you also find it VERY IRONIC that today's kids are less educated, more disrespectful and, in general, much more morally corrupted than the kids of the 70's and 80's! I have deleted hundreds of comments by people from the ages of 9 to about 26 because they were obscene, full of swears and/or nonsensical because of illiteracy! Grammatically, the sentences were a mess. In fact, many times it was a single sentence with no periods or capital letters and it made no sense.

THESE ARE THE PRODUCTS OF TODAY"S SESAME STREET??? The show that was "cleaned up" so as to not be a bad influence on kids. Another problem with the show today is that it caters to 2 year olds. There is no sophisticated and funny humor anymore. It has the mentality of a show slightly higher than Teletubbies! And what's with Elmo, who has an entire third of the show dedicated to him? Why don't they just rename the show "Elmo's World"? That is how I and many older S.S. fans feel about it!
