We raised /brooded several pullets for a friend and at about a month of age, I started feeding them sprouted wheat and oats straight from the elevator. They found the wheat to be very palatable, but the oats seemed to big. When they were 6 weeks old, they really took to the oats and the wheat. I soaked a cup or two in water overnight, then gave them the cups of wheat or oats a rinsing soak once a day. It took very little time (checking on chicks anyway) and they gobbled them up.
masterful idea! I'm not a farmer but I have heard of this idea of sprouting grain for livestock before. (I make sprouted grains for my family to eat so I thought it was interesting that you'd do the same thing for animals.) Good stuff. Thanks for sharing!
Brilliant mindset with so many new and natural farming design ideas. Videos with him show different successfull projects currently in use and often new projects on the horizon.
Joel is a great resource to anyone wanting to learn how to farm more naturally with healthier and happier animals and nutritious foods whehter they're a beginner or seasoned farmer.
