@matti1003 I know I will regret this, but Christians do not have THE RIGHT to reject anything in the Bible. If they do, they implicitly condemn the Pope as a heretic. How can this be possible when the Pope is the only one on earth who communicates directly with god? I would say religion is childish, but that would be an insult to children.

@FUZZYisBIG You also say that Christians use 5th hand information. Is your knowledge of evolution and the big bang first hand or are you relying on information from secondary sources?
-
@FUZZYisBIG Like most people, you take an extreme case to make your point. There are degrees of belief - not everyone takes the Bible literally. Again, assuming your opponent to be stupid (the sense in which I suspect you are using "ignorant" - though you would probably deny this) is not the way to approach an argument. Are you so sure of your own position? No weaknesses? No gaps in your knowledge?
-
@mikelheron20 If my opponent choose to believe in a mythological beast that is inherently contradictory, then the only assumption is that they are ignorant.
-
The Christians you meet may be as stupid as you say - after all they're American. There are, however,Christians who are informed and as well read as you - not sure that's much of a recommendation-and can hold their own pretty well. Starting from the premiss that your opponent is ignorant is a recipe for getting your ass kicked.BTW I regard anyone who tells me they've read the Bible cover to cover in the same way as those who claim to have read Finnegans Wake.Almost certainly a liar.

Careful folks. Truth is, either God exists or he doesn't. Neither camp can provide proof. I personally am attuned to all the marvels of this planet and universe. It makes more sense to me that something outside of chance created this all (i.e. a God). Is the bible fallible? I think it is. What works for me? Reduce the whole concept down to a simple relationship of myself and God; set the bible aside temporarily or forever. For me, things make much more sense now. It feels pure and right =)

@matti1003 i see, a cafeteria christian.
basically, pick and choose what you like, even though you have no proof that the stuff you like is better than the stuff you don't.

Good video from Stef (as always), but I don't see how all Christians are bound by something written in the Bible. I'm sorry, I just don't see it. I never met a priest in my life who said that to me (I was raised Catholic, but I no longer am one). The fact is that a Christian CAN (unlike what Stef says) choose to reject any offensive part of the Bible, as most Christians have. Personally I didn't take the Old Testament seriously since I was a kid. Christians are meant to be followers of Jesus!
-
Its funny what you are saying about the old testament is exactly the way society is today! Our society as Christians today have no glue what the message that jesus taught. Jesus taught one power and man is stuck in duality with his intellect.

I try and stay clear of them but i would always be polite , well i try my best , lol
~Ralphos on PalTalk Chat Room, (try to debunk that logic):
[quote] "if God is KNOWN to exist, NO belief-system is necessary" [unquote]
my additional respond to that:
Label "God" is a human based concept for people with limited comprehension having an human based Agenda, that is why I prefer the name: "Prime Creator" that is WAY TO BIG for any (human based) Religion. The concept of a "Prime Creator" creating the whole freaking Universe, does that kind of power need any kind of "worship"?

@vanityWords I ask questions to Cristians about how they can believe god exists.. and the only answers they can give is "Because, look around! how can all this exist with out god? and then I would go on to explain to them using science about how all this exists and they just say pfff science! hahaha
