@colcons7 Two different machines. Merc's 4 strokes back when they were made in the U.S.A (his is) and by Yamaha were quieter, and way more fuel efficient than the ETEC's. ETEC's would be a little faster but not by much. ETEC has holeshot beat with its immense torque. The Merc could fix that problem with a Trophy Plus. That 3 year maintenance free bullshit from Evinrude is a giant sales pitch. You should always do correct maintenance.

@snowpack- that is probably the dumbest comment i have ever read, you must be aware that its not the line that catches the fish, its the guy manning it. most bass are right around that weight too so you just sound dumb. that is perfect what he is doin. and just to top this , the other day using 5 pound test I was bass fishing when I got a muskie on my line. The muskie was 19 pounds and i reeled it in fine. so theres the proof
