The first part is from EWTN in the early 1990s discussing the commonality of Christian icons of Jesus Christ. The word icon means image, but implies a true image that is authentically that of Jesus. The last part is meant to confirm the similarity of facial features of the Shroud image and the icons that began to be uniform in appearance in the A.D. 500s. The shroud was purportedly sent to King Abgar in Edessa which is part of Modern day Turkey. The shroud brought with it healing to the king who protected it and folded it in 4s so as to only show the face of Jesus as it appears on the shroud. The paintings show the ornately embroidered and tassled display case which became the Template as it were for all iconographers' future renditions of Jesus. This earned it a reputation.
The full history can be found at www.shroud.com and especially in the writings of Ian Wilson. See the Weave images of the triangle and box at this friend's site:

  • You cant hide behind your big word's and so called intelligence, what you believe is just that, a belief its NOT FACT

  • Is THAT a fact?

  • lame video that is Cesar Borgia,a image drawn 500 years after his death is true?the reason why they all look alike is because they were copied of each other in some way

  • You make the point of the video--that the Shroud of Turin existed prior to the C-14 date. The icons of post A.D. 500 show exacting similarity, suggesting a common source for copies.

Now explain how this shroud was painted in the sixth century?

The brute fact of nature is that there is no known method for the oxidate, dehydrated fibrils that compose the image's visible source. The radiation/heat revivification of Jesus in Joseph tomb in circa A.D. 32 Jerusalem seems very logical.

  • "Now explain how this shroud was painted in the sixth century". There are a lot of things that people did in the past that cant be explained now.

add to the fact that the people who own that thing are reluctant to carbon date it.

  • It was carbon dated in A.D. 1988.

So do you admit it is not a painting made by human hands, as did the early Christians?

  • Their presentation is rather dull. But yeah, that'swhat He looked like. (sort of) The eyes were big, but not THAT big! There were coins over the eyes (supposedly.) They claim to have read the inscriptions on the coins of the eyes, but hardcore Shroud recearchers aren't convinced. It's reguarded as something too read into. The C-14 dating was scewed thanks to a repair done with cotton fibers. (darnit.)

  • It's IIyia's Theme from Star Trek the Motion Picture (1979) by Jerry Goldsmith.

  • what's the name of the song in the background?

  • No doubt the Holy mandylion (abgar) and Veil of Veronicas and Shroud of Turin are all the same clothes or closely related miracles not made by human hands ! Thank you for this amazing video. This is the explanation why all Latin Catholic Churches should again use the iconography of the first 1200 years as do Eastern Orthodox/Eastern Catholics.

  • We glory in your cross, O Lord, and praise and glorify thy holy resurrection: for by virtue of the cross joy has come to the whole world!

verse: May God be merciful to us and bless us: show us the light of His contenance and come to us. Let Your ways be known upon earth: your saving health among all nations! Let all peoples praise You, O Lord !

  • 1m3 sounds like me. Lord of the jug, indeed. I don't know about any of you, but, I do love icons of Jesus Christ. And to think, He doesn't hold it against jugster that jugster hates His guts. Only God could feel that way.

  • and what were the results?

no its not a painting by human hands it's a human creation made my human hands
