Update 3/16/2010: Yo, another translation put together by honyakusya, this time for this one. If you don't understand Japanese and want to know what the heck is being said, go on over either in the video responses or using this direct link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XUHhoZ2nVSY

If you're wondering why I didn't use the name that's become popular since the game was released, Seifuku Akiha, well, I would use the official name, which is actually Tohno Akiha in this case, but there is already a character with the same name which was there first, so I had to use something else just to avoid confusion. And I'm not going to use Seifuku... or just School Uniform... because I'm not some nerd who uses Japanese for no damn reason like all those annoying 4channers. The most obvious thing to use to refer to her, then, is School Uniform Akiha, but that is a mouthful and just generally too annoying to keep having to say. So, I took to calling her School Akiha, because it's simple.

Now, about the character itself, this is an interesting one. She's unlocked in exactly the same way as Saber Lily in Fate/Unlimited Codes, that being to beat Arcade with both of the other versions of the same character. There are a couple of key differences, however. For one thing, for Fate/Unlimited Codes, before you can beat Arcade with Saber Alter, you have to beat Arcade with ten other characters to unlock HER. In the case of School Ahika, both Tohno Ahika and Akiha Vermillion are available from the start. The other, more important, point is that, in the case of Saber Lily, she's just an alternate costume for Saber with a name change. That's it. School Akiha is actually a completely different character.

This version of Akiha has completely different movesets and everything from the other two versions. Now, there are also three different styles with different movesets on each one, which means there are essentially NINE different Akiha movesets in this game. That's enough for pretty much anyone to find one they like. On top of that, this version of Akiha even has her own completely separate story in Arcade Mode. No, you will not find any lazy cop-out developers in the Ecole staff like you will with Capcom.

It should be noted that I have never been a fan on the original two Akiha characters, who have both been around since the original Melty Blood (although in the original they both had the exact same moveset, it wasn't until ReAct that they became different characters [it was the same for all characters with two versions]). However, this one quickly became my third favorite character after Nanaya and Ryougi. She just feels so much better than the original two to play with.

  • hmmm...no translation yet?

  • @KanzakixKikuchi See description. Or just click the video response that isn't mine, whichever works.

  • So, this is version of Akiha's voice you prefer? I don't know; Hitomi sounds almost like she's using her Primula voice here.

If you know Japanese, do you think you could translate the story sections by using the annotations feature?

  • Nah, I prefer her ReACT and Act Cadenza voice work, personally.

Anyway, as I've said on my Ryougi videos, I'm not a translator by any stretch, and my Japanese is only so-so at best. It took me 6.5 hours of constant intense focus just to translate those, and the only reason I was able to go through with it was just how intriguing Ryougi's ending was (I was blown away by its awesome when I first saw it [Ryougi was the second character I beat Arcade with after Nanaya]).
