This is the second part to my "Install Arch Linux" video. In this part I will show you how to install and configure X, KDE, Flash, Codecs, Firefox, Chromium, some extra stuff like GTK theming so that your GTK+ apps look nice inside of KDE and fonts.

  • Also you seem to have forgotten to install ALSA and PulseAudio

  • @sebbeks I don't use PulseAudio, and alsa is already included in the kernel.

  • Probably because that file is missing and firefox and chrome use a different file to load flash.

  • @sebbeks But as I mentioned, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and nothing changed.

  • @FearedBliss related to flashplugin issue, i think it cannot load that soname because /usr/lib/kde4/kcm_adobe_flash_player.so has rpath /usr/lib/kde4/devel.

    readelf -d /usr/lib/kde4/kcm_adobe_flash_player.so

  • any reason why you don't use the interactive 'adduser' script instead of useradd? it's way easier to use especially for beginners, since they don't have to remember any switches

  • @FearedBliss Well that's what the error message says.
