In COmbat you want to drop fast, so if there was no holes then you would slowly float down, which in no way is good.

just so you know
the germans started the parachuting
they did it on operation fall gelb (the attack on holland)
and there are stories of soldier that didnt know what to do cuase the didnt want to shoot helpless people in the air
but a soon as they saw the paras shooting on there comrades they know what to do
but yeah i would be scared to
