how to catch mew in pokémon yellow

mad-e catches mew without a gameshark or game genie code

read before comenting:
walk toward the first trainer and just after you press down press start and fly away.

this trick also works in red and blue but a bit different

it doesn't work in fire red etc.

if you've beaten all the trainers, you won't get mew =/

@StardustXL you get given each of the starters from pokemon red/blue - Charmander, Bulbasaur and Squirtle - at various points, by various people in pokemon yellow, all of which will evolve.

I CAN'T DO THIS.

i get to cerulean after that guy spots me and i fly. when i try to battle that guy in cerulean he doesn't want to. the exclamation point appears , he comes to me , but then he doesn't say anything . i can't move and the battle music keeps going on
