There's nothing wrong with kubi nage done correctly, there's no attack on the neck. A poor example of a "neck lock." Absolutely not illegal. Some of the leg grabs, it should be noted are not illgal in some circumstances.

It's interesting to me that the "reason" for an illegal closed guard is "damage to internal organs." That's crap. It was to speed up the competition for the purposes of olympic competition. On the flip side, great demonstration. Sorry those are all banned for you. Thumbs up.

I don't know exactly, the technique has been banned for 95 years. According to W. Muramoto in the ‘Furyu’ (The Budo Journal) “in its early days judo looked very much like a duel with no compromise". Numerous traumas and injuries, commonly occurring during contests triggered a process of elimination of the dangerous and risky techniques. In 1899 finger, wrist, knee and anckle-locks were banned. In 1916 the very popular knee-lock Ashi-Garami was banned.

1:58 it tiotoshi. it is a locals tornament they might not want to see any broken knees.
