Frobisher Bay composed by James Gordon, in SSA. My sheet music is very old so part of it was missing- it's supposed to go "One more whale then we'll BEAT the ice, BUT THE winter star was in the sky" sorry about that :(.

Cold is the arctic sea
Far are your arms from me
Long will this winter be
Frozen in Frobisher Bay
Frozen in Frobisher Bay

"One more whale," our captain cried
"One more whale and well beat the ice."
But the winter star was in the sky
The sea's were rough the winds were high.

Cold is the arctic sea
Far are your arms from me
Long will this winter be
Frozen in Frobisher Bay
Frozen in Frobisher Bay

Deep were the crashing waves
That tore our whalers mast away
Dark are these sunless days
Waiting for the ice to break.

Cold is the arctic sea
Far are your arms from me
Long will this winter be
Frozen in Frobisher Bay
Frozen in Frobisher Bay

Strange is a whaler's fate
To be saved from the raging waves
Only to waste away
Frozen in this lonely grave.

Cold is the arctic sea
Far are your arms from me
Long will this winter be
Frozen in Frobisher Bay
Frozen in Frobisher Bay

  • Hi again MissEmijoy..... I see that you might be recording other canadian folky songs too? Good on you! what part of the country are you in? If you like I could invite you to sing the song at one of my concerts if I'm touring through your area.... James Gordon

  • @JamesSGordon Thanks! I really enjoy Canadian music so I want to sing more of it.

Performing would be great. I'm near Toronto. Please let me know if you are touring near by :)

  • I"m very honoured. One of the most beautiful renditions of my song that I've ever heard. Many thanks. Fabulous job. James Gordon

  • @JamesSGordon Thank you so much for taking the time to listen and comment, it means a lot to me coming from you! I love this song a lot and have good memories of it in choir school. It was always one of everyone's favourites :).
