It's finaly here! the blender ragdoll tutorial! after many requests, and hours of trying to get it in good quality, you can learn how to make a ragdoll in the blender game engine.
I asume you have some basic knowlage of blender (scale rotate duplicate..etc.)
I've made the buttons really big so i hope it's readable in youtube..
If you have used this tutorial, please credit me, i would really apreciate that...

please note: english is not my first language, so i might have made some mistakes..

tips 4 better ragdolls: give the body parts logical masses to improve realism, play around with the spaces between body parts to see what works best..

  • THIS IS FUCKING IMPOSSIBLE IT FALLS THE WRONG WAY, IT BREAKS APART!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! KFHUCRDUKJVMUKLDV no insult to you though

  • @benystrider try to get better in blender fist before attempting an advanced tutorial like this.

  • @aegis3d LOL! advanced hahahha

  • @Blender3dvids I said that to scare away the people that are not familiar with functions like grab, scale and rotate :P. If they would try this tutorial they would get frustrated with blender and give up (because I can't be arsed saying "press R to rotate " all the time) , and I don't want that to happen.

  • I followed all the first part of the tutorial, but when i press p to start the game engine, the cubes just stay there. Many other people had the same problem but they never posted solutions. Please help

  • The game engine is updated and it works slightly different.

But this isn't an exact tutorial. It's more a way of showing advanced users how its done.

If you know the game engine, and know what's going on in the tutorial, you'll be able to figure out what buttons to press in the new game engine.

Also, because of college, I don't have the time to make a full updated tutorial.

  • Finally I've took the time to make a simulation worthy of your awesome tutorial... I think :P

  • Thank You very much. :) It worked and I learned about animation recording. Keep up a good work and have a nice day. :)

  • Great. Thank You very much. :) Are there more variants in how to compose ragdoll?

  • very good tutorial, thanks!

  • @guythingbob3 Make sure that your objects are all rigid bodies, if not, they have no gravity, nor motion. And if that doesnt work, space your body parts further apart. ;)

  • THX!

  • I got it to work in blender 2.49.2 perfectly, so think before Yo go running Your mouths. Plus this is for an older version of blender and should only be used as an example. But the concept is still the same.

Use the ball setting instead of hinge and mess with the pivot z in constraints, I used 1.50.

    Good tutorial +1

  • Ho is possible! THANK YOU :) YEHA!!!
