You are right about the song-thing, but this piece is seperated into an A - part, a B - part an another A - part. The two A - parts is in octaves, shaping the rage, the energi and the power, but the middle B - part is in a slower tempo, some meldodic octaves is used, but its more varieted :)
@daytonmlivingston Hi. How about Maurizio Pollini's version of this piece? I was blown away when I heard this piece for the first time in his Chopin Etude recordings. But when I heard Andrei Gavrilov's playing this piece....wow!!

2:22 - 2:51 is absolutely amazing. I have never heard that section played so fast or aggressively in my entire life
