Legend of a Mind and the long version of Iron Butterfly's In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida were staples on Cleveland progressive rock channel WMMS-FM. That was in the late 1960s and early 1970s when long versions were first played on radio. Up until then AM radio dominated. Listening to Legend in stereo was great due to the wonderful left-right channel shifts, like in Jimi's All Along the Watchtower. Either my ears are getting a lot worse or recordings aren't made like that anymore.

Yes and No...The obvious orchestral parts and other "moogie" sounds were on tape backround, with the band doing the heavy lifting.

Actually Pete Townshend doesn't like to talk about Woodstock because he has bad memories of it. He said it was self-congratulations and "we're changing the world." He mocked it by saying "this show (the talk show he was on) is changing the world."
