idk if u know wats wrong but sometimes when i save a gimp photo as a jpg or wat ever and stuff it doesnt show up like it does in gimp execpt if i make it black and white

when i save mine it dosnt let me set it as my background and when i look at it in my documents the icon for it is the gimp icon can you help please?
