This is the first video in a series of videos that will teach you how to convert a PSD to a functional webpage/website. In this video you will learn how to take a layered PSD and use several methods to slice the document into individual image files. Later we will export the files and use them in ouyr webpage/website.

  • I have a different method, I use the crop instead of slice (saving one image at a time), I find it much faster. Because slice tool just plain suck.

  • @izvarzone I actually use the crop method a lot as well, much more than the slice tool. But depending on the design, the slice tool can come in handy.

  • It's trechan, I'm still using your knowledge joe.

  • Wonderful, wonderful tutorials. We are indebted to you for a wonderful set of videos that are clear, concise and understandable. Please don't stop. There must be lots of folks out here in cyberspace that are benefitting from your work.

  • @Beavboy69 If you have iTunes you can subscribe to their Podcasts. They do have some free videos, but they are only selected videos from an entire course, so some of them may not make sense completely.

  • @averagejoe24054 Oki. I mean't you can watch some of the tutorials without paying. Sorry and thanks for the reply

  • @Beavboy69 Lynda.com doesn't offer free accounts. I used to have a subscription based account that ran something like $25.00 per month, but I no longer have that account.

  • @averagejoe24054 Do you have a free account at Lynda.com or is it the premium one?

  • @rorytate1 - Actually a lot of this information I learned on my own and some of it I learned from Lynda.com, Adobe on the other hand... not so much.

@izvarzone - I also use the crop method instead of slicing, but I will cover that in a later video ;).

Thanks for the comments guys. The new DW video(s) are in the works. They will be done with a new PSD file as well that I will make available for download once I get the video(s) up. Not sure yet if it will be one video or several shorter ones.

  • This was very matter of fact, simple, and saved me hours of scrolling and surfing. Why the hell couldn't Adobe and Lynda.com have put out something this simple and practical. Go figure.
