This video has a bit of a story. Ian Whitcomb was scheduled to sing with yours truly, Adam Swanson, in the Friday night Sampler Concert at the West Coast Ragtime Festival in Sacramento. However, Ian had been locked out of his hotel room for some time (and his dog Rollo was locked inside!) So he couldn't get to his music and was so upset he almost didn't go on stage, but I convinced him to do this song instead of the one we were going to do. Ian then proceeded to announce his problems to the audience, but it all turned out to be hilarious! (Neither one of us having our music, of course). Watch closely and enjoy "The War in Snider's Grocery Store" from 1914! Recorded at the West Coast Ragtime Festival in Sacramento, California - November 19, 2010.

  • Lots of fun! Good-time music. Thanks for this video.

  • A very enjoyable song! Ian Whitcomb is a great entertainer and Adam Swanson a great ragtime pianist!

By the way, Whitcomb had recorded this particular song on player piano roll, another great performance.
