Just a few quick clips I shot today of my recently acquired Rover P6 3500S, from 1975. It burst into life after standing for about 3 months and certainly wants to live (it was potentially going to be broken up!). I've not long had it - and it's going to need some work - but the powertrain is in great condition and it shouldn't take much to get it through an MOT.

The car has the standard 3.5 litre (215ci) Rover V8, with twin SU carburettors. The only modifications to this car are SD1 cylinder heads, a 5-speed LT77 gearbox, Facet fuel pump and Luminition Ignition. Starts absolutely on the button, as you can see - even when cold it just needs a little choke and catches instantly, settling into a steady idle.

It's (noise-wise) refined to say the least - but it does have quite a nice muted burble and is very smooth. A set of aftermarket filters and some exhaust changes would have it sounding like a completely different beast - but that's not the priority at the moment.

The car was warm when this was done, by the way!

Hopefully it'll be returned to the road soon - and I can get you some proper sound clips and in-motion footage. Stay tuned!

  • Nice ride ma' man! Were the Brit Cop Rover P6 3500's heavily modded (i.e. souped up powerplant. stiffer suspention, heavy duty breaks) from the pedestrian models? If so...they're the keepers!

  • @LeftyPlaysRighty I don't know if they were - but I stand to be corrected. I know they probably had heavy-duty charging systems and I know for a fact that they tended to have front spoilers, to improve stability at speed :-)

  • i have one of these cars they are a really good car I love the engine but the only bad thing is the brake fluid container seal iz broken Nd I don't know where to find one :( do U know where i can get one im in Aust.

  • @BANGBANG2288 Hi there! Rimmer Brothers will deliver to Australia, as will J R Wadhams - they'll be able to get you what you need very quickly and it shouldn't cost much.

  • Thanks, what camera is this? How much HP is this twin carb 3500?

  • @hokman1 Hi! These Rover V8s are usually rated at between 130-188BHP - I believe this one is supposed to be 155BHP at 5200RPM and 226lb.ft at 3000RPM.

The camera is a Samsung full HD VP-HMX20C.

    Thanks for watching!

  • @FalconswrathPB Really?!?! I thought the foundational mechanicals would be beefed up to go after the bad guys.

  • @LeftyPlaysRighty i own an ex cop p6 its completely standard no front spoiler and nothing done to the power plant.

  • Most annoying video on the entire internet. Let's see the bloody thing!!!!!

  • Very nice car. I never really liked British cars, but yours looks like its very well looked after. Very nice engine sound as well.
