Swiss Ziemer engineering have produced the Leonardo Di Vinci (LDV) femtosecond laser for the current application of making the flap in laser vision correction. Faster speed and lower energy produce results that are significantly better than the current system, Intralase and other systems that use "amplification" for dissection. The LDV allows for speeds in the mega hertz range, nano joule energy with smaller spot size and millimeters of focal distance to accomplish a complete smooth dissection. This translates into better vision by providing a planar, dry, bubble free (OBL) treatment surface for the excimer laser. This unique technique is termed Zlasik for the combination of the highly smooth dry treatment surface without tissue "tufts" which are the an unavoidable feature of high energy, low repetition lasers that use amplification. The physicist Holgar Lobatschowski with the team under Frank Ziemer are to be given credit for this major advancement in the field of refractive surgery and for creating the lamellar dissection tool that will lead innovation in the the coming years in Ophthalmology.

  • We are presenting an advancement that can reduce complications and improve outcomes. This is not a forum to discuss your outcome. Your outcome is not a botched procedure but an unfortunate and not predictable outcome at the time of your treatment. We treated then and now with the largest possible ablation zones and conservative candidacy choices and continue to push past "standards" to avoid negative outcomes. You have our sympathy for your continued anger and problems.

  • hi i want to get zlazik but cant find a doctor in nyc help me please

  • your sympathy can not restore the problems and the complicationts of this surgery....I got z-lasik 5 months ago,and I stil have ghosting problems, halos and starbursting....I am a med student and after studying I understod that I was not a good candidate for the lasik{scotopic mean diameters 7.82R 7.89L}.But the doctor convinced me that the only problems I MAY have{10 % possibilty he told me},would be the halos....Nowadays I have 9/10 both eyes....

  • Thank you, Dr. Foulkes, for constantly being ahead of the pack and always looking to improve the accuracy and safety of your work. I am inspired.
