There is no original version by Lavigne, only a demi, Demi bought her the song and finished it.
I've been a Lavigne fan but Lovato's voice is much more appropriate for this kind of songs.

I'm kind of scared that Demi Lovato will pull a Hilary Duff and chip her teeth on the friggin' microphone while she's singing. She falls on stage a lot. She's super clumsy. So, I'm kind of hoping that she doesn't hurt herself singing into the microphone like that! LOVE her version. So much more passion and feeling to this song when Demi sings it(:

@musikLmind lol obviously you don't know what a COVER SONG is. Usually, when artists cover a song, it's like a tribute to the original artist. It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that they "can't write their own songs."
