BROCKTON — State colleges and universities have been neglected for the past three decades, Bridgewater State College President Dana Mohler-Faria said in an interview last week.
Mohler-Faria, the top education adviser to Gov. Deval Patrick, said investment in the colleges has been lacking and the colleges have been falling behind in some important ways.
Bridgewater State, for instance, is using a science building that was constructed six decades ago for a campus of 800 students, he said.
The college now has 10,000 students, Mohler-Faria said.
"It's been a struggle," he said in an editorial board interview with The Enterprise on Thursday. "In all of my years I can't remember any administration that ... had a real sense of what was going on on the campuses."
