Strictly Street Salsa holds a Salsa social on the second Saturday of every month in Houston, Texas (USA). We used the proceeds from our social on April 9, 2011, to benefit victims of the recent earthquakes and tsunami in Japan. We called the social "Salsa for Japan."
The song used in this clip is "Salsa Caliente" by Orquesta de la Luz, which is a famous Salsa band from Japan. The dance is a freestyle "Rueda" by members of Strictly Street Salsa's performance team. This variation of Salsa dancing (also called "Casino Rueda," "Rueda de Casino," or "Salsa Rueda") is based out of Cuba and Miami.
The dancers in this clip are:
Michael W. (caller)
Richard S.
Artemio V.
Leslie C.
Cheryl B.
Amy S.
All of the moves in this video are taught in the series of Rueda workshops offered by Strictly Street Salsa. For more information about the studio's various classes where you can learn how to dance Rueda, Salsa, and other Afro-Latin dances, you can visit this website:
