It can be your way of hinging the wrists; they should hinge on both snuff boxes simultaneously and you should not try to keep the back of your left wrist flat; see "grip 2 wrist hinge; shawn clement" and "knife the grip; shawn clement" Shawn

This video solved so many of my problems. I am much more consistent and the misses are not bad either. I realized that you got to have a good backswing and set up at the top to be able to get to the ball on the bottom. Many thanks.
