Bottom line: this song (and really, the whole experiment of Record Club in general) is for the truest of Beck's followers. I think a lot of people pick him up at various points in his career, and expect similarity between albums (or projects). Record Club is showcasing his versatility on complete overdrive.
I mean, he even states in the description that everyone detuned their instruments just to see what would happen. The result: a honky tonk carnival of dissonance.
