Michael Manley was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of his time. the masses were just too stupid to understand his ideas. And yes, jamaica's destruction can be directly attributed to the CIA. and finally Michael Manley is the standard of eloquence. just listening to him is like listening to good music.

the description of democratic socialism as explained in this interview is such a intelligent way for a nation to run , america has destroyed its soul by going for profit at any cost ,having people commiting suicide to keep their homes out of foreclosure because of the fallout of predatory lending that caused a recession , which in a socially directed economy , where the people come before the almighty dollar, would have never happened , the idea of having a moral economic structure is refreshing

Michael was way ahead of his time, but I would not say that the masses were exactly stupid. Not many societies which would have included that of the Jamaican society, could withstand the onslaught of the might of the USA and their direct intervention in the political and social struture by their Intelligence Organisation "The CIA".

@yourmanwatson I am actually quite well educated sir. I listened to this clip and based on certain gaps in my understanding, I asked a question. Personally, that is how I have gone about educating myself throughout my entire life. Fortunately for me I came across more people like rhyonrhyon (below) and less people like you.

@kamahmans I dont think this interview was intended to tell us detailed policy programmes, remember it is the interviewer that guides the pace of the interview and considering the timing of the interview they probably wanted to have him give the world an overview of the climate of JA and a summary of his motivations and general aims for acheivement
