The 1965 Shelby Daytona Cobra was one of six cars built by Carroll Shelby to compete against the dominating Ferrari in the F.I.A. (Federation Internationale de lAutomobile) World Manufacturers Championship for GT race class. An experimental coupe body designed by Pete Brock was built on an existing Cobra chassis, immediately increasing the top speed by 25 mph. That car won its first race, the 1964 Daytona Continental (prompting Shelby to adopt the name), and five more coupes were built, including CSX2601.
After competing at Daytona, Monza, Spa and Nurburgring, CSX2601 made history when it clinched the 1965 World Manufacturers Championship for the United States and Shelby American on July 4 in Reims, France.
Absolutely awesome, Pete Brock is a phenomenal guy, does great work with the Datsun 510 community.

LOL I went to Bondurant racing school yrs ago. At that time, I had no idea who he was. I just knew he was an old race driver and I had to go if I wanted to drive my uncles cars in club races. To be honest I don't recall if I ever even saw him there but it is still kinda cool to have that connection. I love the Cobra Coupe. Just gotta figure out how to get my hands on a good replica. An original isn't possible even in my dreams.

Mr. Brock seems to forget he saw the car about 3 years ago as it was parked next to his new replica coupe for a day at the Art Center Car show in Pasadena CA. not 35 years ago as he states
