  • this music always stayed in my head for all these years, as a kid staying up late watching WPIX. Thanks a bunch for posting this! :)

  • Glad you like it :)

  • Here is a good old history lesson. The WPIX TV Station was located in the World Trade Center In New York City.

WPIX Went off the air waves here when the wtc fell on 9/11/2001

The large aetna on the roof of the wtc could reach distance`s all the way to South Jersey

  • Did you mean WPIXs antenna? I read something about this, a document from a week after 9/11: WPIX operated on low-power from the Daily News Bldg 220 E. 42nd St, then from the Empire State Bldg along with Chs 2, 5, 9 and 13. Chs 4 and 7 from Alpine, NJ. And Ch. 31 had to use 2 LPTV xmttrs (NJ and Long Island) on other frequencies, with their main xmttr gone and no back-up, I presume.

  • @MSTS1 Well Michael, or as I can call you Mike, Is WPIX a tribune station?

  • @johnwest19995 - They were in 1987, but since I don't get that station anymore, I don't know what goes on with them now, or who they are owned by..

  • So San Diego's own Paul Bloom used to anchor was then known as Channel 11 News in the 1970s, right?

  • this is some stone age shizznet

  • One nice thing about Dish Network...I no longer live in NYC, but I do have both WPIX and WWOR once again thanks to the Superstations package. I'm watching the Honeymooners on 11 now. Great way to bring back a childhood.

  • @chriskvideochallenge It's Holst: The Planets - Mercury, The Winged Messenger. I have this on my iPod and this track always reminds me of when I heard this on TV as a kid.

  • @johnissoevil - I've noticed that too...these were such great days, boy do I miss them!

  • Does anybody know the title of the early morning music played in this clip. Thanks.

  • WPIX came all the way to Buffalo Ny in the 80's it's how I discovered The Honeymooners when I was 9

  • Cool video, gives me an idea what the station was like back then.
