Bush Promises to Break the Law (Again)

The Pretender-in-Chief signed the National Defense Authorization Act into law last Monday, quickly adding one of his bogus signing statements with which he claims the non-existent authority to ignore it at his discretion. The bill is huge, containing over 3500 sections. Bush took excpetion with only four of them with his signing statement, claiming that he can ignore the bill's requirements to reduce waste, fraud and abuse by private contractors, protect whistleblowers who work for these contractors, the requirement that the intelligence community provide documents requested by Congress in a timely manner, and the requirement that no funds be used for permanent bases in Iraq or any action that exerts U.S. control over Iraq's oil money.

With the hundreds of signing statements that Bush has issued during his term, he has effectively granted himself line-item veto power, which does not exist. It's illegal. The Supreme Court has long since struck it down as unconstitutional.

Yet this this president continues to ignore his oath and break the law, and this Congress continues to refuse to hold him accountable in any way whatsoever.

Time to stand up, people.

Yes, Bushco is in charge and laughing. But look at what the average american is willing to tolerate. Look around this country and see people dieing from poverty, and the people who have jobs just don't care until they are out on the street.
