  • It's best to set the pagefile size yourself because Windows doesn't keep the size consistent and when the pagefile is constantly resized, that slows down performance and increases pagefile fragmentation. No matter how much RAM you have, a pagefile of some size is required because there are many applications out there that look for it. I have 16GB of RAM but Crysis eventually crashes when I disable the pagefile.

  • the transcribe audio had six or seven errors.

  • I have 4 4gb sticks in my machine, adding up to 16gb total and I disabled the page file with no problems. I did this since i use a 60gb Vertex 3 for my OS. Haven't run into any problems.

  • "Some people jews not to have a page five". :-)

  • @hughescallum590 4GB modules x4. That motherboard was maxed because some of the apps I use are memory intensive. The motherboard I have now can max at 32GB's but I also have it at 16GB's to maintain a decent RAM performance. My MacPro however is at 32GB's for all the media software. I bought that in 2007.

  • @Snapscape How'd you get so much RAM

  • Why r u purple?

  • Umm, I have a question that might look stupidly... but I have to know. I have Windows XP SP3 with 1 GB RAM. I have the Windows 7 SP1 too. So I have 3 disk-drives (C - WIN XP ; D - WIN7 ; E - Program-Data...). I don't use Win7... just in critical times when I can't access XP for some reasons... I set the PageFile (in XP) on the partition where WIN7 is installed. Might be a problem if WinXP's page-file is on a partition with another OS?And when I work on Win7 what happens with XP's pgfile?

  • this is so funny with the Transcript turned on LOL

  • @MouthofSaurons I think you set the amount given to each drive. When you go to the tab which sets it, it will ask you from which drive will you set the page file.

  • If you have multiple hard drives or ssd's, will the pagefile utilize both drives, or only one of them?
