The Telefutura network, owned by Univision, is airing a number of promo spots for a new talkshow called "Noche de Perros" ("Dog Night"). In this clip, the network promotes it as a show for men - and uses homophobic stereotypes to establish the show's 'maleness'.

  • Blabbeando, the producers have to be diplomatic about it because it is a business and don't want to offend aone, but Varela was just behaving in the promo as he normally does in real life, he's not a character created by the show and to title an article in such way is promoting sensationalism because that network just showed the hosts as they are. To feel offended by a Varela's behavior in the promois in my opinion homophobic indeed.

  • @MyRealm100 Well, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

  • Blabbeando, the term homophobic refers to a person or group of people that have negative behavior towards homosexuals, in this show one of the host is openly gay and from the promotional spot he shows him self as such, in fact on the first show when one of the hosts is describing him as a sensitive person he says: " I'm not sensitive, sensitive are Panda bears, I'm a gay", and every time he talks proudly about his sexual orientation every one in the audience applauds.

  • @MyRealm100 Yup, the producers of the show said that one of the hosts was, indeed, a gay man and now that the show is on air, I am glad they followed up. That's great. But this particular spot features an effeminate guy as the joke. That's homophobic and I am glad the producers also agreed and pulled it off the air.

  • You guys are so predictable, If you would only watch the show you would see how it is only a mockery of the latin macho to have a laugh about it because those women they invite always take the piece out of them and make obvious the fact that men will always need women, and that's the whole idea of the show, but hey I couldn't ask you to at least have a look at it before giving away your opinion.... It would've been too much right? Specially adding to the fact that you probably only speak english

  • @MyRealm100 This was a promotional spot that ran before the show began to air. Telefutura, to their credit, admitted that the spot might be interpreted as homophobic and removed it from being aired.

  • @Blabbeando disagreement is a good agreement to me.

  • You know what they say about people who try too much to be macho , right?

  • So disgusting. How can they be proud of the horrid chauvinism that pervades latinamerica.
