I thought it would be a good idea to give a heads up on installing the spacer with the O-ring.

  • I notice by looking at this video the brass sleeve isnt even visible its further in the tranny

  • @Rustynails403 I think you are referring to the brass bushing the separates the main shaft from the sprocket shaft. That should be recessed far enough to allow the main shaft seal. If it's sticking out and blocking the main shaft seal than it has failed and will need to be replaced. Gould you send me a picture?

  • PS the spacers are mild steel

  • There are a variety of spacers for the four speed. the difference is the depth. all year spacers have the same hardness. I had a 79 that I did this with and the spacer machined fine.

I have a problem with the little brass seal.. it doesnt sit properlly , doesnt bridge the gap between the sprocket shaft and the main key shaft because the brass sleave on the main shaft is sticking out ot far any tips as to how to get that barss sleeve in further without damage

  • The spacer I'm using is an OEM#35070-77. I removed the original spacer with no problems. I installed the new O-Ring Spacer. After installing I noticed 2 small slivers of sliced rubber I believe to be from the O-Ring near the shoulder of the threaded spline. I'm a little suspect that I may of damaged the O-Ring on the spacer. I tried to remove the new Spacer wth the O-Ring and it is almost impossible to remove. Is there a way to remove the new Spacer/O-Ring without damaging it? Thanks.
