It reached #3 on Billboard's R&B chart...

The year before in 1961 the original version, an instrumental, was released by The Champs, they reached #20 on the Top 100...

The B-side of Chubby's version, "Popeye the Hitchhiker", also charted; it peaked at #10 and stayed on the Top 100 for 13 weeks...

Absolutely love this song - my Dad let us buy it when we were little kids. In the 70's when I was a teenager, I brought it to a party where most of the kids had never heard it before and we all thought it was so much fun to go as low as we could go to the limbo - great memories, thanks so much for posting!!!
