The 12 string takes me somewhere else.

You are without a doubt one of the best contributors on Youtube. I'm glad that you have some great Smiths' songs posted. Please keep the excellent work!

Daniel, you play beautifully. Thanks for posting all these videos.
I noticed you hold the pick in an "unorthodox" fashion. Do you hold it with thumb, index, and middle finger?
Galahad3000 2 years ago
Yes, with most of the weight on the middle finger, and my thumb angled downward instead of aligned with the strings. It means I can keep the plectrum flat against the strings without having to bend my wrist up so I think it lets me play for longer without getting RSI (which so far I've luckily never had, despite typing on a keyboard all day).
By the way, the "orthodox" method is just what books for beginners say - the truth is you can play the guitar however you want to.

Hey i want to ask if you can play this guitar with 6 strings on instead of 12, like a regular 6string guitar

It's possible - see my cover of Spellbound by Siouxsie And The Banshees - same guitar with 6 strings on it.

what tuning is this in? not standard?
smerrigan 3 years ago
Standard, and notice the capo - admittedly the guitar may have been not in "concert" tuning cos I used to do it by ear, before some people complained.
