It makes sense though. Avoidance, and invisibility. Look up a video of guy punching guy in face. You will find as many as you can imagine. invincible defense is this new century. No comfort in a fist.
Oh I omitted that it was someone other's post, sorry. If you want to see some real situations, look at e.g. J. Thambu sensei's DVD, or S. Seagal (but in slow motion and without broken bones :)) Many aikido techniques come from old samurai style Daito Ryu Aikijutsu. In real life, you will not probably see aikido techniques as on the mat. They are mixed and dirty in practice. But you can say the same on other martial arts. Aikidokas are also trying to avoid conflicts.
i posted no opinion. i am interested in learning the practical application of aikido if there is any... all of the videos i find are performances where the opponent willingly allows themselves to be defeated... i was hoping to find a video of some real life circumstance where an aikido technique was actually used to defeat an attacker... for such an old art, surely there is video somewhere of such an event.
There are some, keep looking. However resisting opponent does not exist in aikido :) Aikido itself does not oppose to anything, so there is no place for any resistance :). The person who introduces the attack is the same person being thrown by its own energy. And resistance in joint locks is not logical, it leads only in pain. Please get more information about the philosophy of aikido before posting such opinions.
lol i remember what someone posted about aikido being the art of defending yourself against someone who really wants to shake your hand... are there any videos online of aikido techniques actually working against a resisting opponent? like in a competition or cage match? i can't find any online....
