Although he is a religous man but open-mind with reformist ideas. The reality is that the main power in Iran is not president but Supreme leader and then security gaurd who are mainly religous leaders.

Khatami has good intentions, unfortunately the hardliners in the Iranian government prevented him from implementing the reforms he wanted. but it is evident that some things did improve socially under khatami, esp for women (not saying it was perfect, but def were improvements)...and then this jackass called Ahmadinejad comes along

Dude, these presidents are nothing but puppets of the real leaders behind the door. Do you seriously think someone who puts a damn turban on his head and can't wear a proper clothe can think? People should stop thinking that there are people who want "reform Iran" etc etc.. the same government who came into power directly after revolution is still here as shadow government! Iran will never change unless armed revolution by the people!
