@Username62752 This is a lot more than just a war movie. It's the story of a nation fighting to become free. It's the story of schoolboys willingly giving their life for freedom. It's the story that every Estonian if hasn't seen then heard of. It's the story that Estonians are taught to respect and honor. It's our story.

I'm reading some of the older comments here because they seem to answer my question about the Latvians in the film.
They were Red Latvians, right? Similar to the Red Militia in the Finnish Civil War, except that they had Russian military training? I could be confused though...

There were so little people who believed in Estonia's independence these days, but look what happened, we fought with Landeswehr at south and beated them out of Riga, and fought with "reds" at east and beated them to Petrograd(nowadays St. Petersburg) It means that HOPE and BELIEF into freedom is what makes miracles.

Many estonians went in the Soviet Army in this war. It seems the thing that happened to the Latvian Red Hunters happened everywhere...
Of course, now all these countries respect each other and are friends and allies!
Long live Baltic States!

ok, there were some poor made military episodes
and it seemed a bit unrealistic that schoolboys beat latvian riflemen- WWI veterans, Soviet elite army unit who thought they are fighting for free soviet Latvia in free soviet Russia but movie was well made.

the Latvian Red Hunters were communists, or engaged by force. i of course respect Latvia, because it's also a free Baltic state.
the schoolboys didn't beat that big latvian army. they even lost two classmates there. they were only able to delay the Latvian advance enough until the Estonian end Finish troops arrived...
