surprisingly, it's not canned. If they don't perform the sketch live, the show it to audiences and record the laughter. I think they use the previously shot sketches a filler while they prepare for the next sketch they are going to do life.

Hey . I know this is an old post but just for anyone reading this . The "Big bang theory" does not state that nothing exploded. In fact the term "big bang" term was coined by skeptics to the theory. It actually states that the universe expanded from a singularity. There was no explosion or fire and in fact matter only formed once the universe was cool enough for atoms to form. This expansion is proven. What caused it is unknown.

It's so much easyer to say god did the explosion because no point to going into deep science crap if we never use it.
