Accordion players undeniably hold the monopoly on schmaltzy music, and there are certainly some concertina players who prefer the old sentimental music to diddly diddly Irish music or hearty English Country Dance and Morris tunes. I'm not one of them. However, this is just such a lovely tune that I absolutely have to make an exception. It was written by Georges Auric and lip-synched by the one and only Zsa Zsa Gabor in the 1952 film "Moulin Rouge" directed by John Huston.

This arrangement was inspired by the brilliant melodeon playing of Chris Parkinson. For best results, enjoy with a café crème and a croissant.

Effectuée sur un concertina "Anglaise-Allemande" diatonique chromatique avec 30 touches faite par monsieur Harold Herrington du Texas aux Etats-Unis. Vive le concertina francais!

  • Very nice playing. It would be lovely to see what you are playing on the left hand too. Split screen perhaps?........Thanks ;o)
